Torrey Pines Bank's Base Hit Bonus Offers More Cash to Local Carities in 2008

San Diego – May 14, Torrey Pines Bank awarded the San Diego based non-profit, Buddy Bowl, with a check in the amount of $1,675.00 in conjunction with its Base Hit Bonus promotion. The Base Hit Bonus is a promotion in partnership with San Diego Padres first baseman, Adrian Gonzalez. For every base hit that Adrian makes during the baseball season, Torrey Pines Bank makes a charitable donation to help support local charities.

During the month of April Gonzalez hit 20 singles, five doubles, one triple and four home runs for a total of $1,175. The Bank also added a Golden Ticket feature to its promotion which adds an additional $500.00 to the monthly award. The person who draws the Golden Ticket gets to select the winning charity for that month and wins two seats in a hospitality suite when the Padres play the L.A. Dodgers on September 9th. Adrian Gonzalez will make a private appearance in the suite before the game.

On April 24th Niamh Stirle walked into Torrey Pines Bank's Private Banking office and picked up a free Padres season pocket schedule. When she opened the schedule she found a Golden Ticket and selected Buddy Bowl as her charity of choice.

"I was so surprised and excited to pull the Golden Ticket. When I was younger I had a great winning streak but it had dried up! It will be such a treat to get to watch my favorite team play against L.A. in September and the added bonus of Torrey Pines Bank's generous donation to a charity of my choice makes the win even sweeter! Go Padres!!"

Buddy Bowl is a charity that cares for military and law enforcement families who are confronted with catastrophic injury or death of loved ones in the line of duty. The organization uses funds to help firefighters, police officers and military personnel who have been injured while pursuing their vocation of keeping Americans safe.

Niamh believes that "such selfless acts of kindness and bravery should be acknowledged. What greater cause to support than one that can bring some solace to someone who has lost a limb or a loved one to make our lives better."

Buddy Bowl's Executive Director, Nico Marcolongo, said "We're ecstatic and honored to be a beneficiary of the Torrey Pines Bank Base Hit Bonus program. We greatly appreciate both Torrey Pines Bank and Adrian Gonzalez for supporting our troops and their families by supporting Buddy Bowl. What makes this even more ironic is that former Padres manager Bud Black played in Buddy Bowl in 1991. The Bank does a fantastic job of supporting San Diegans in need."
